Update
Whilst performing flight AI-171 from Ahmedabad to London Heathrow with 231 pax and 18 crew was at FL400 and entered into Hungarian airspace at approx. 08:22, the crew failed to report into Budapest centre. Whilst the aircraft continued along its planned route across Hungary and Slovakia Czech fighter jets where scrambled to intercept the Air India jet. The aircraft met over Czechia at around 09:22. The aircraft re-established contact with ATC still in Hungarian airspace and continued the flight as normal. After leaving Czech Airspace the Belgium and UK air forces escorted the aircraft to LHR. The aircraft was on the ground for around 3 hours. As a result of this incident three German Nuclear plants were instructed to evacuate due to the loss of communication. During the encounter with the Czech air force the commander of the fighter aircraft reported the captain of the 787 hand signalled the fighter jet all was okay, and that they where experiencing technical difficulties with the aircraft.
